SPACE: ROOM TO GROW
The UrbanPONICS GrowPOD recreates acres-worth of farmland within a 40-foot (standard Shipping Container –SIZE) by using advanced vertical farming techniques to unlock every inch of growing space within the GrowPOD’s four walls.
The GrowPOD is divided into two sections:
- The NURSERY STATION for seedlings and saplings.
- CULTIVATION AREA for maturing crops.
The two growing systems are used strategically to ensure the highest rate of plant success.
NOTE:
- These are NOT in-efficient ‘modified’ Shipping Container makeshift Farms! These are pre-fabricated – high performance GrowPODS that are specifically designed and built to ensure equal priorities to the needs of plants, operator and business commercial viability.
- It is inherently in efficient to grow plants hydroponically in large Nursery / Plastic Domes. The ‘Volume’ of Air that needs to be conditioned in order to grow number of plants laid in Horizontal Flat Bed fashion will certainly make the business model unviable in the long run.
THE NURSERY STATION:
The Nursery Station is the starting point and home to the farm’s young plants. Nursing Station is further divided in Germination Area & Sapling Station. Unlike elsewhere in the GrowPOD, the Nursery Station uses stacked horizontal seedling troughs for Germination Area and ebb-and-flow (NFT) hydroponics to nourish up to 3,744 seedlings and saplings at a time.

Not only is the Nursery Station designed as the perfect incubator for young plants, but also it is a fully integrated hub for all farming activities. Every part of the table is designed for maximum ease-of-use and intuitive organization to streamline the farm work.
CULTIVATION AREA
Designed for growing and nourishing large plants, the Cultivation Area features water-efficient Deep Water Culture Hydroponic using Patent-Pending UrbanPONICS Dual Pore Modules stacked vertically split between 4 walls within the width of the GrowPOD.
